BACHWEEK 2025

The orchestra will showcase the most exuberant, playful, and imaginative side of Baroque music at this year's Bach Week in Vejby 2025.

Baroque music is often associated with the major holidays – Christmas and Easter – where powerful works stage religious narratives about birth, death, and resurrection. But the Baroque era encompasses much more than that. It is also full of music that is surprisingly unrestrained, playful, and imaginative.

At this year's Bach Week in Vejby, Concerto Copenhagen presents a concert that opens the door to this other side of the Baroque. Here we encounter everything from Leclair's elegant French overture and Froberger's virtuoso toccata for harpsichord to Schmelzer's humorous animal imitations in Sonata representativa. At the same time, the familiar names of Vivaldi, Handel Bach come to the fore—this time in masterful chamber music play, where virtuosity, intimacy, and curiosity go hand in hand.
