BACHWEEK 2025
The orchestra shows the baroque from its most unrestrained, playful and imaginative side at this year's Bach Week in Vejby 2025.
Baroque music is often associated with the great feasts of Christmas and Easter, where mighty works stage religious stories of birth, death and resurrection. But Baroque music is much more than that. It's also full of music that is surprisingly loose, playful and full of imagination.
At this year's Bach Week in Vejby, Concerto Copenhagen presents a concert that opens the door to this other side of the Baroque. Here we encounter everything from Leclair's elegant French overture and Froberger's virtuoso toccata for harpsichord to Schmelzer's humorous animal imitations in Sonata representativa. At the same time, the well-known names Vivaldi, Handel and Bach emerge - this time in masterful chamber music, where virtuosity, intimacy and curiosity go hand in hand.
