BACHWEEK 2025

The orchestra will showcase the Baroque era at its most exuberant, playful, and imaginative for this year’s Bach Week in Vejby 2025.

Baroque music is often associated with the major holidays—Christmas and Easter—when grand works bring religious narratives of birth, death, and resurrection to life. But the Baroque era encompasses much more than that. It is also full of music that is surprisingly unrestrained, playful, and full of imagination.

At this year’s Bach Week in Vejby, Concerto Copenhagen presents a concert that opens the door to this other side of the Baroque. Here we encounter everything from Leclair’s elegant French overture and Froberger’s virtuoso toccata for harpsichord to Schmelzer’s humorous animal imitations in the *Sonata representativa*. At the same time, the familiar names of Vivaldi, Handel Bach come to the fore—this time in masterful chamber music, where virtuosity, intimacy, and curiosity go hand in hand.
