Concerto Copenhagen has, over several years, engaged in various outreach and educational initiatives. These initiatives encompass a wide range of activities, including music performances accompanied by picture books for young children, appearances at hospitals and nursing homes, collaborations with the National Gallery of Denmark to provide educational programs for primary school classes, as well as partnerships with other organizations for special projects aimed at young audiences. Additionally, Concerto Copenhagen collaborates with the MGK programs in Copenhagen and St. Annæ Gymnasium on workshop projects for young talents and works together with the Royal Danish Academy of Music to conduct workshops and courses on baroque music for conservatory students.
Today when we normally hear the Champagne Galop it is played by modern symphony orchestras with 60 musicians or even more, but it has not always been that way.But how did the music sound back then in the 1840’s in Tivoli? Back then the music had to prove itself in a tough environment. The concert hall was only 240 square meters and simply build of boards covered with a canvas – thus if it was raining then the concert was paused or cancelled. Nevertheless, it was the sound of Danish pop music which Lars Ulrik Mortensen and Concerto Copenhagen now is offering their take on – as close as they can possibly get.
Are we truly free individuals or are we holding ourselves captive? And how do we deal with our inner conflicts as human beings? Let Emma Farnell-Watson and CoCo take you on a journey through consciousness in the music video Armonico Tributo, which is about control and letting go. Through music and dance, we move between the tangible and intangible at the same time in the universe of music.
Brandenburg concertos 7-12? That's not a thing! And yet, CoCo's musicians can present six new "Brandenburg Concertos" based on Bach's own music. Inspired by J. S. Bach's own frequent reuse and rewrites, oboist Antoine Torunczyk - in close collaboration with Concerto Copenhagen's musicians - has orchestrated Bach's six organ trio sonatas using the Brandenburg Concertos as a model.
Live music unfolds in time and space. In the music video series 'Spaces,' Concerto Copenhagen performs music in various rooms and surroundings that provides new approaches and perspectives to the experience.
Producing a video is a complex and extensive task that we take very seriously. At Concerto Copenhagen, we work closely with many talented people to bring our visions to life and bring the art to you.
Concerts are a core part of Concerto Copenhagen's DNA. It is in the immediate performance that the music really breathes and lives, and here the instruments come into their own. We hope to see you at one of the many, many concerts we perform each year.
