The Morning We Were Shepherds

“The Morning We Were Shepherds” is a book about a young shepherd boy who loses his flute in a stream, captivates a royal court, and sparks a grand country festival.
It is the story of the Baroque era’s fascination with shepherd life, of two worlds that are drawn to and repelled by one another, yet must intermingle because they are incomplete without each other.

A children's book and concert featuring authentic French and English Baroque music by Lully, Jacques Aubert, and Playford.

Tea Bendix, an illustrator and author, and Poul Høxbro, a musician and storyteller, are the creators of this picture book, which was published in collaboration between Carlsen Publishing and Concerto Copenhagen.

Poul Høxbro will recount the story from *The Morning We Were Shepherds* and perform English and French Baroque music alongside an ensemble of musicians from Concerto Copenhagen. After the concert, Tea Bendix will show drawings from the sketching process and talk about illustrating music and working on children’s books.
