Common Ground

Andreas Brantelid and Concerto Copenhagen delve into the musical connections that have bound Europe together throughout history – across countries, styles, and generations.

What does it sound like when Europe's musical history is brought together in a single concert? To mark Denmark's EU Presidency, Concerto Copenhagen and cellist Andreas Brantelid are gathering threads from the continent's musical network – and bringing them to life.

Through music, we experience the common European trends and communities. From Handel's iconicWater Music, which reflects his life journey from Germany via Italy to England, to Scheibe and Hartmann, who both brought musical traditions from Germany to Denmark, to one of the greatest European celebrities of the time – Joseph Haydn – and his cello concerto in C major, performed by one of Denmark's greatest international soloists.

Common Groundis both a historical retrospective and a contemporary celebration of what binds us together—across borders, styles, and generations. The program will be performed in Brussels in the famous Henry Le Boeuf Hall.

Look forward to an evening where music shows us where we come from—and what we have in common.
