PALSCHAU & SCHULZ: CONCERTOS AND SOLO WORKS FOR HARPSICHORD
J.G.W Palschau: Harpsichord Concerto nr 1 in C major J.G.W Palschau: Harpsichord Concerto nr 2 in D major J.A.P Schulz: Six Diverses Pièces pour le clavecin or le piano forte, op. 1
Composers Johann Gottfried Wilhelm Palschau and Johann Abraham Peter Schulz began their careers as keyboard prodigies. Both heavily inspired by the great J.S. Bach, they each transformed their own musical vision into highly original works that were unfortunately largely forgotten by posterity. This CD presents premiere recordings of Palschau's only two harpsichord concertos from 1771 and a handful of solo pieces by Schulz from 1778. This is exciting music from a period of stylistic transition, where inspiration from Bach and Mozart meet in a unique way.
