SMK x CoCo: Baroque expedition I
On the Baroque Expedition, students from primary school meet five musicians and their Baroque instruments in the world of visual arts at SMK.
The course emphasizes the importance of music in the interpretation of the images and the students are introduced to various pieces of music from the Baroque era, music that many children would not otherwise encounter and which provides a good understanding of the diversity of music. The pupils create new stories based on the music and images, and the highlight of the day is the final concert where the musicians accompany the pupils' stories from hall to hall.
On a course held in 2020, students said the following, among other things:
"When the music plays, it's like MON starts a movie and the picture moves"
"It's bombastic"
"It was fun to hear music MON have never heard before"
"It's here and now when images and music are experienced together"
"I was stunned when the music started. I was completely empty inside. It was so big"
Testimonials from teachers:
"We are very happy with the experience we had yesterday at the National Gallery of Denmark. It was rich in learning, but especially rich in aesthetic experiences at a very high level. The children got much more out of hearing the music and seeing the pictures in this way, where the interplay between the visual and the auditory was fantastic. If you repeat the program next year, we are definitely interested in participating again." - Hundige Lilleskole
