Small concerts - big composers

Concerto Copenhagen presents a colorful program where the chamber music format focuses on virtuosity, detail and ensemble playing under the direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen.

Imagine going to one concert - and experiencing six. In 'Small concerts - big composers', Concerto Copenhagen takes you through the diverse sound world of the Baroque, where each work is a small concert in itself. With small ensembles but great music, the focus is on the chamber music format - with virtuosity, richness of detail and sensuous interplay under the direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen.

The concert opens with two rarely played works by the peace-loving and overlooked Baroque master Georg Muffat - a true bridge between French and Italian styles and an ardent admirer of Corelli. From here we move on to two of Telemann's surprising and imaginative concertos for four violins - without continuo! - that challenge both form and expectations.

Next, the program features two works by Vivaldi, where double the soloists means double the drama and intensity - a concerto for two violins and one for two cellos. The evening is rounded off with Bach's iconic 3rd Brandenburg Concerto. Brandenburg Concerto - a Concerto Grosso without soloist division, where the entire ensemble sparkles in unison.

An evening with many small concerts - and big musical moments.
