Nordic Lights Festival – Berlin

The Nordic Lights Festival celebrates a musical Midsummer Night in Berlin by bringing together four of Northern Europe’s Baroque orchestras + the leading German Baroque orchestra, Freiburger Barock Orchester!

The Freiburger Barock Orchester, Barokkanerne, Drottningholms Barockensemble, Finnish Baroque Orchestra and Concerto Copenhagen are gathering for an inspiring festival of music in Berlin.

The richness and versatility of Scandinavian music and its players are well known in the rest of Europe, but original sound ensembles from these countries are rarely seen outside Northern Europe. And yet they are among the most innovative and courageous ensembles in their home countries, with exciting concert formats, sustainable educational outreach and bold programming.

The Nordic Lights Festival marks another milestone: not only do the four ensembles present themselves in Berlin for the very first time together, but they also invite a Central European orchestra, the Freiburger Barock Orchester, to expand the network and share the joy of exchange and cooperation.

The Nordic Lights Festival is hosted by the Nordic Baroque Scene (NBS).
The NBS is a cooperation platform established by Barokkanerne, Concerto Copenhagen, the Drottningholms Barockensemble and the Finnish Baroque Orchestra with the aim of strengthening the Nordic Baroque Scene through joint innovative projects, highlighting its diversity and quality while expanding its international visibility.
