NEW BRANDENBURG CONCERTOS
The Knights' Hall, Sønderborg Castle
It is impossible not to notice that the history of classical music is dominated primarily by male artists. This is primarily because, for long periods of time, it was considered absolutely inappropriate for women to appear as artists in public. As a result, their music was often only performed in private settings and known only to a select circle of people.
But that doesn't mean that female artists haven't played a role and been important in the history of music! Even though they weren't always recognized by the public, or remembered today, many of them helped shape the course of history through their music and personalities.
Concerto Copenhagen and Annette Skov delve into the stories and music created by women and music written for women from the Baroque period to the present day.
