CoCo’s Christmas Concerts 2025: Bach Cantatas for the Holiday Season featuring star soloists from across Europe

Concerto Copenhagen invites you to a Christmas concert featuring some of the most festive and magnificent works the Baroque era has to offer. Together with four outstanding soloists from Europe’s top ranks, the orchestra will perform three of Johann Sebastian Bach’s wonderful cantatas written for the Christmas season.

It will be a musical celebration brimming with warmth, color, and the distinctive richness of the Baroque sound—featuring natural horns, recorders, timpani, and the oboe on stage. As always, Concerto Copenhagen’s artistic director, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, will be at the harpsichord.

The concert’s three cantatas range from the solemn to the jubilant:

  • BWV 91: Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ – with strings, three oboes, two horns, and continuo
  • BWV 122: Das neugeborne Kindelein – with strings, recorders, oboes, and a taile
  • BWV 65: They Will All Come from Sheba – with baroque flutes, oboe da caccia, horns, and continuo

Duration: approx. 75 minutes, no intermission
