Michelangelo x Concerto Copenhagen
Experience the sound of Michelangelo's works when the exhibition is filled with music.
In connection with SMK's major spring exhibition Michelangelo Imperfect, Concerto Copenhagen sheds light on a lesser-known side of Michelangelo: his poems set to music. Michelangelo wrote more than 300 poems—intense, sensitive, and deeply human—about the body, the soul, and about love and longing.
In a musical pop-up format On Wednesday, May 7, MON will MON selected poems set to music by composers from Michelangelo's time. The music will be performed by two musicians from Concerto Copenhagen: mezzo-soprano Anna Caroline Olesen accompanied by Fredrik Bock on the lute. Together, they will perform songs with lyrics by Michelangelo – allowing his words and emotions to resonate with the marble sculptures. Through the music and poems, we can experience Michelangelo and his works anew – in a resounding self-portrait.
The pop-up concert consists of three short performances taking place at various locations in the exhibition'Michelangelo Imperfect' between5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The concert is free with paid admission to the museum.
