Women in Baroque music
Music written by and for women. Concerto Copenhagen takes you into women's stories and music from the Baroque to the present day!
It's inevitable to note that the history of classical music is primarily dominated by male artists. This is mainly due to the fact that for long periods of time, it was absolutely inappropriate for women to appear as artists in public. As a result, their music was often only performed in private spaces and only known to a closed circle.
But that doesn't mean that female artists haven't had a role and importance in the history of music! Even if they weren't always recognized by the public or remembered today, many of them, through their music and personalities, greatly shaped the course of history.
Concerto Copenhagen and Annette Skov delve into the stories and music created by women and music written for women from the Baroque period to the present day.
