The Morning We Were Shepherds

'The Morning We Were Shepherds' is a book about a little shepherd boy who drops his flute in a stream, captivates a court and becomes the cause of a mighty fête champêtre.
It is the story of the Baroque fascination with the shepherd's life, of two worlds that are attracted and repelled by each other, but must be blended because they are not complete without each other.

A children's book and concert format with authentic French and English Baroque music by Lully, Jaques Aubert and Playford.

Tea Bendix, illustrator and author, and Poul Høxbro, musician and storyteller, are the forces behind the picture book, which was published in a collaboration between Forlaget Carlsen and Concerto Copenhagen.

Poul Høxbro tells the story from "The Morning We Were Shepherds" and plays English and French Baroque music together with an ensemble of musicians from Concerto Copenhagen. After the concert, Tea Bendix shows drawings from the sketching process and talks about drawing music and working with children's books.
