Dannebrog 800 years

Talinn, Estonia

In 2019 the 800th anniversary of the Danish flag Dannebrog and the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia are being celebrated with a wide programme of cultural events. On the day of the 800th anniversary of the Danish flag Concerto Copenhagen wil be performing together with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir with works from the baroque repertoire, Arvo Pärt including Estonian and Danish national songs.

The Danish celebration of Dannebrog 800 and Estonia 100 are in collaboration with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Embassy in Estonia, Danish Culture Institute in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and the Danish Ministry of Culture.

According to legend the Danish flag, Dannebrog, fell from the sky in Estonia on the 15th of June in 1219.
